Discognism is an ism (specifically, a theory of mind) that says that the "stream of consciousness" we seem to experience is a temporal illusion. Instead, consciousness is made up of discrete instants. Adjacent instants are not in fact connected to one another. In any one instant, we can remember other instants from our past, and our brain can order those instants chronologically. This gives us the sensation that we have just "flowed" into the present from the past. However, it is only a sensation, a result of our memory.

Our experience of time is defined by our memora. No matter what instant we are in, we are always in the present. Instants from the past can only be referenced (with varying degrees of accuracy) from our memora. Instants from the future can't be referenced at all.

It is possible that in other instants, besides the one you are currently experiencing (your present), you might:

Or you might not experience any other instants. This might be the one and only instant your consciousness ever experiences!

All this of course leads to the conclusion that consciousness does not exist, beyond our memora. Combined with multipathism (lack of free will), discognism can lead to ultimate nihilism - nadir.
